Sam has successfully defended numerous individuals who have been charged with serious crimes such as wire and mail fraud, tax fraud, racketeering, firearm offenses, money laundering, identity theft, health care fraud, and environmental and regulatory offenses. Sam serves clients in all phases of the criminal process including audits, investigations, grand jury proceedings, pretrial proceedings, and trial.
Sam represents individual and corporate clients in federal forfeiture proceedings. Sam guides clients through the complex statutory and procedural thicket that exists when the federal government seeks to take a citizen’s property.
Sam serves on the Criminal Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the District of Utah and is a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the District of Utah.
